New parents are plumping for baby names that feel traditional rather than following celebrity trends, reveals BabyCenter.com’s annual top names list.
Jackson claims the top spot for boys, while Sophia nabs number one on the girls’ list for the fourth consecutive year.
“This year, more than half of moms say they found name inspiration in people they know. Celebrity influence is on the decline,” says Linda Murray, BabyCenter Global Editor in Chief.
Family influence may be on the rise, but pop culture still has a major effect on naming trends, with Kanye and Nori rising up the list, and George (after Kate and Wills’ little Prince) climbing up 10% for boys and a staggering 37% for girls.
