Baby Raves: The Euro Trend That’s Heading To NYC

BELFAST CHILDRENS FESTIVAL 09Life is a social whirl for music-minded NY babes. When they’re not perfecting their technical skills at Baby DJ classes, they’re twirling Saturday Night Fever-style at Baby Loves Disco (BTW get your tickets here for the March 16th show at Le Poisson Rouge.)

And now it’s time to dust off the mini glow sticks because Baby Rave – motto: Bring your binky and your blankie and get ready to bust a move! – is taking up residence at the The Duke on 42nd during most of May. Expect psychedelic video projections, giant balls n’ parachutes and, of course, some serious tunes spinning on the decks.

The idea was dreamt up by Irish children’s art charity Young at Art in 2005 – who are also known for throwing Baby Afro, Baby Bollywood and Baby Ska shindigs.

Baby Rave opens on May 7 and runs until May 18 (10.30am and 1pm daily); $15. The Duke on 229 W 42nd St., New York NY 10036 (646) 223-3010;
