Is This The Coolest Kids Hair Salon In NYC?

Taking your kids for a hair cut (normally a total chore) just got way more fun with the opening of marine-themed, Edamama Cute Cuts & More on Williamsburg’s Union Ave.

Inspired by her two children (Autumn, 8 and Weston, 4) former advertising whizz and local mom Eda Bilir-Messner (pictured below) wanted to create destination spot for “cute hair cuts, books, toy and birthday parties, with classes several times a week.”

Eda, who’s expecting number three this month, says “once I became a mother, I started visiting places that provide services to children. I wanted to create an environment not only for children to enjoy but also for parents to relax and have a cup of coffee.”

So she’s added in a swish all-white coffee bar (stocking D’Amico Coffee, Harney & Sons organic tea and baked goods from Fort Greene’s Le Petit Bakery), an impressive mini library and lavished the space with floor-to-ceiling underwater touches (think a ship’s bow entrance, sea creatures hanging from the ceiling and a vivid hand-painted ocean mural). Behind the trio of styling stations there’s also a kid’s play area ideal for sing alongs or reading sessions.

Edamama Cute Cuts & More, 568 Union Ave., Unit B, Williamsburg; 718-388-3663. Open Tuesday to Friday 9.30-5.30pm and weekends 9.30-6.30pm. Kids hair cuts start at $31.50 (PS there are plans to introduce blowouts for moms too. Hurrah!)
